Weather emergencies can happen, no matter where you live. Knowing what to do during an emergency is an important part of being prepared and may make all the difference when seconds count. This includes knowing the proper food and water safety precautions to take during bad weather events, including flooding and power outages.
The FDA, in collaboration with the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA), hosted a 30-minute webinar “Food Safety: Bad Weather Basics”. During the presentation, FDA and NOAA experts shared information on severe weather situations that often lead to power outages or flooding and discussed the action steps you can take to prepare for weather emergencies and prevent foodborne illness.
