1. AUTHORITY DELEGATED.

To approve Achievement Medals or PHS Citations;

The Commissioned Corps Instruction CC27.1.1 prescribes the authorities and responsibilities for administering the awards program.

2. TO WHOM DELEGATED.

This authority is delegated to the Principal Deputy Commissioner; Deputy Commissioners; Direct Reports to the Commissioner; Associate Commissioner for Regulatory Affairs; Center Directors and Deputies; Center Associate Directors for Management; Director, Office of Management, CDER; Director, Office of Resource Management, ORA; Director, Office of Executive Operations, OC.

All previous delegations of authority inconsistent with the provisions of this delegation are superseded.

3. LIMITATIONS.

The Commissioner retains the authority to approve the Outstanding Service Medal, Commendation Medal, or Unit Commendation and to present the Meritorious Service Medal or Outstanding Unit Citation. These authorities can not be redelegated.

4. REDELEGATION AND CERTIFICATION.

These authorities may be further redelegated.

5. EFFECTIVE DATE.

The Commissioner of Food and Drugs approved this delegation, via memorandum, on January 5, 2010.
