1. DIVISION OF APPLIED VETERINARY RESEARCH (DJJVEB).

A. Conducts research to study the pharmacology of veterinary drugs.

B. Conducts drug residue incursion research associated with the usage of veterinary drugs in food animals including studies to develop detection methods for residues in food derived from animals.

C. Conducts research to investigate the interactive effects of various environmental, physiological, and genetic factors on drug metabolism in food producing animals.

D. Conducts research on microbiology problems associated with the usage of drugs in veterinary medicine and on food-borne pathogens associated with animal derived foods.

E. Conducts research on regulatory problems associated with animal feeds.

F. Conducts research on interactions between diet and drugs in food producing animals.

G. Provides expert review of technical data and assists in the resolution of regulatory issues.

2. AUTHORITY AND EFFECTIVE DATE.

The functional statements for this Division were approved by the Secretary for Health and Human Services, effective October 1, 2012.
