1. DIVISION OF SOCIAL SCIENCES (DJJHJA).
A. Provides the Center and Office of Foods management with analyses of the impacts of policy options on affected parties, including industries, FDA, other governments, and consumers.
B. Performs economic and Paperwork Reduction Act analyses on proposed and final regulations and guidance documents. .
C. Conducts primary economic research of regulated industries
D. Advises Center and Office of Foods management of the impact of nutrition and labeling policy options on consumers.
E. Conducts primary research on consumer awareness, attitudes, knowledge, and practices to inform Center and Office of Foods policy decisions.
F. Supports Center and Agency risk communication with research-based messages and program design.
2. AUTHORITY AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
The functional statements for this Division were approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, effective October 1, 2012.
