REGULATORY - FOOD AND COSMETICS
DETENTION OF MEAT, POULTRY, EGGS, AND RELATED PRODUCTS
Effective Date: 04/02/2001
1. AUTHORITIES DELEGATED AND TO WHOM DELEGATED.
The Regional Food and Drug Directors and District Directors are authorized to perform all of the functions of the Commissioner of Food and Drugs under:
1. Section 409(b) of the Federal Meat Inspection Act (21 U.S.C. 679(b)), that relates to the detention of any carcass, part thereof, meat, or meat product of cattle, sheep, swine, goats, or equines.
2. Section 24(b) of the Poultry Products Inspection Act (21 U.S.C. 467f (b)) that relates to the detention of any poultry carcass, part thereof, or poultry product.
3. The Egg Products Inspection Act (21 U.S.C. 1031 et seq.).
2. REDELEGATION.
These officials may not further redelegate these authorities.
3. EFFECTIVE DATE.
The Acting Principal Deputy Commissioner approved this delegation on April 2, 2001 (Via Memorandum from the Acting Senior Associate Commissioner for Management and Services to the Acting Principal Deputy Commissioner, Subject: Comprehensive Update to 21 CFR Part 5, Delegations of Authority and Organization - ACTION, dated April 2, 2001, and Tab C - Delegations of Authority Statement signed by the Acting Principal Deputy Commissioner, dated April 2, 2001).
