Office of Operations

Mission

To ensure the timely and effective delivery of high quality and cost effective mission support services across the FDA and its centers, and coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities for incidents involving FDA-regulated products across FDA and its stakeholders.

Office of Operations Staff Offices

Business Services

Manage a variety of program administrative services including but not limited to budget, contracts, personnel, property, space, travel, and timekeeping for Office of Operations (OO). Provide guidance on administrative management policies, procedures, and control for OO offices and Office of the Commissioner.

Employee Safety and Environmental Management

Provide Agency-wide occupational safety, occupational medicine and environmental management oversight for all FDA activities. Through coordination with FDA centers and offices the Employee Safety and Environmental Management Staff assures the mission of the FDA is achieved with the necessary focus on employee safety and environmental stewardship.

Security and Operations

Develop and implement the Agency –wide security policies and programs by providing leadership and guidance to managers and staff on all aspects of security.

Program Effectiveness

Develop partnerships with Office of Operations offices to build evaluation capacity, improve decision making and risk management through systematic inquiry, while assisting in strategic alignment to ensure mission effectiveness

Ethics

Provide advice and assistance to current and former employees in order to help ensure that decisions they make, and actions they take, are not, nor appear to be, tainted by any question of conflict of interest.

Paperwork Reduction Act

Purpose of the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) of 1995 is to ensure that Federal agencies do not overburden the public with federally sponsored information collections and that the information we do collect serves a useful purpose. PRA staff ensures these procedures are followed while acting as the liaison between FDA centers, HHS and OMB on all information collection matters
