FY 2003 OHIP Annual Report - Counter Terrorism Activities

 

Emergency Response

  • Completed Emergency Preparedness Communication Plan 05/03.
  • Completed emergency response team training in Spring 2003. This training assured that 100% of CDRH public health emergency responders are trained in emergency SOPs.
  • Center and Agency personnel participated in the TOPOFF II radiological (and biological) emergency response exercise. The exercise tested communications, response to potential food contamination, and response to needs for medical devices. FDA staff responded adequately.
  • Updated the Emergency Counterterrorism Preparedness and Response Plan for radiation.

Communication Plan

  • Completed a Center-wide Emergency Preparedness Communication Plan and put the plan in place on May 3, 2003. This plan is designed to assure that CDRH will be prepared to respond in the face of emergency situations.

Bioterrorism Teleconferences

  • The CDRH Television Studio produced 6 national teleconferences on medical responses to BIO and CHEM terrorism. They produced 3 international teleconferences for CFSAN on FDA CT food imports regulations.
