Janelle R. Barth, MS, MBA, Associate Director, Office of Management
Janelle Barth assumed the role as Associate Director for Management for the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) in August 2013. In this capacity she serves as the principal advisor to CTP’s senior management and FDA officials on agency operations and administrative management matters. Ms. Barth leads and provides executive leadership and oversight for the Center’s administrative operations, including human resources, information technology, budget formulation and execution, administrative management, acquisitions and grants, and risk management and analysis. She manages 90 employees and over $1 billion in budget operations.
Ms. Barth joined CTP in January 2012 as the Deputy Director for Management. She has been instrumental in developing new business models for CTP and streamlining processes. Prior to joining CTP, Ms. Barth held several roles at the National Institutes of Health and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Most recently she served as the Chief Management Analyst at the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2007 – 2012, where she led a team of analysts to develop and implement more efficient and effective processes and focused on strategic and workforce planning efforts. Prior to this she served as a NIH Management Intern, a highly competitive leadership development program, which enabled Ms. Barth to complete rotational assignments in many different disciplines across NIH and the Department.
Ms. Barth holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology Genetics from the University of Maryland and a Master of Science in Management and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College.
