Mitch Zeller, J.D.

Director, Center for Tobacco Products

 

Mitch Zeller, J.D., became director of the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products in March 2013. The mission of CTP --established by enactment of the 2009 Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act -- is “to make tobacco-related death and disease part of America’s past, not it America’s  future, and, by doing so, ensure a health life for every American family.”

Deputy Director, Center for Tobacco Products

 

Richard Turman currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In this position, Mr. Turman is responsible for assuring that CTP accomplishes its public health goals and for operationalizing the Center’s vision and mission as it implements the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act.

Director, Office of Science

 

David L. Ashley, Ph.D. is currently Director of the Office of Science at the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.  He was appointed to that position in June 2010. The Office of Science at CTP is responsible for identifying, developing, and enhancing the science related to tobacco products, their use, and the resulting morbidity and mortality so that regulatory decisions will have the greatest impact on improving public health.

Acting Associate Director, Office of Management

 

Janelle Barth assumed the role as Acting Associate Director for Management for the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) in August 2013.  In this capacity she serves as the principal advisor to CTP’s senior management and FDA officials on agency operations and administrative management matters.

Director, Office of Regulations

 

Beverly Chernaik is the Director of the Office of Regulations at the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) of the Food and Drug Administration.  She was appointed to that position in April 2010.  Ms. Chernaik leads CTP’s efforts to identify and prioritize regulations and guidances that will help the Center achieve its public health goals.

Ann Simoneau, JD, MBA

Director, Office of Compliance and Enforcement

Ann Simoneau is currently the Director of the Office of Compliance and Enforcement at the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  When the Office was created in July 2009, Ms. Simoneau was named its Acting Director and in January 2011 she was appointed the permanent Director.
