Office of Communication and Policy Coordination

OCPC advances communications and policy coordination for the Office of International Programs (OIP).

OIP Communications coordinates and writes blogs for internal and external audiences; manages responses to press inquiries, develops and administers a weekly OIP Forecast report; dissemination of Class I international recalls notifications; and reporting of office performance measures through the FDA Track platform. OCPC Communications also works collaboratively with offices and product centers outside of OIP on key agency initiatives and messaging opportunities.

This team also assists OIP's nine offices with their unique communications needs, including:

  • OIP Forecast report
  • Executive Secretariat
  • International Forum events
  • Agency-wide and Center-based rollouts with an international component
  • Web and SharePoint pages
  • Content Development and / or Dissemination

The Policy Team (PT) manages coordinated responses to information requests from key internal and external stakeholders and represents OIP in policy implementation working groups. This team also manages the International Visitor's Program (IVP).

Policy Coordination

This team manages development of coordinated responses to budget formulation information requests and Congressional committee requests such as the HELP Committee Globalization Study team, among others. And they are also responsible for leading official, coordinated responses on behalf of OIP during official GAO studies. A core activity entails analyzing information and recommending approaches for strategic messaging.

Policy Implementation

The team also represents OIP as lead or principle representatives in cross-Agency Working Groups charged with developing recommendations for implementing statutory obligations such as FDASIA 710 and the Marijuana Working Group.

International Visitors Program

The International Visitors Program (IVP) provides coordination for visits to the FDA by foreign dignitaries, and stakeholders in collaboration with the Centers and other FDA offices. The IVP lead coordinates visits from foreign dignitaries. Activities include logistics management and coordinating relevant needs such as interpretation, security, diplomatic protocols and gifts, to name a few.
