Office of Global Engagement

The FDA Office of Global Engagement, established in 2010, augments the work of FDA’s foreign offices by fostering communication, collaboration and the exchange of information with FDA’s internal and external stakeholders. The Office of Global Engagement uses a comprehensive systems approach to manage information and advance the transfer of knowledge among FDA counterparts and stakeholders. This approach strengthens OIP’s international analytical work by providing the appropriate context necessary to understand the growing complexities of products and supply chains from around the globe. It also assists in identifying early signals or compliance indicators that may affect FDA-regulated products in domestic or international commerce. Through these efforts, the Office of Global Engagement provides analytical, policy and programmatic expertise in support of OIP’s efforts to inform FDA decision-making in a global environment.

The Office of Global Engagement serves as the Agency’s focal point for sharing public and non-public information with FDA’s foreign regulatory counterparts. This includes notifying international colleagues when the agency becomes aware that FDA-regulated products subject to recall in the Unites States have been shipped abroad. The Office of Global Engagement is also responsible for the International Visitor's Program, which manages the logistics and protocol of hosting, briefing, and exchanging information with regulators, scientists, public health officials and other foreign dignitaries who visit FDA.

The FDA Office of Global Engagement staff is located at FDA Headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland USA.
