Harmonization and Multilateral Relations

FDA’s Harmonization and Multilateral Relations Office is responsible for coordinating and collaborating on activities with various international organizations and governments. This includes working with the World Health Organization (WHO), International Conference on Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Registration of Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH), International Cooperation on Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Registration of Veterinary Medicinal Products (VICH), International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulation (ICCR), Global Harmonization Task Force (GHTF), Harmonization by Doing, commonly known as HBD, Codex, the international food standards organization, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Life Science Innovation Forum (APEC LSIF), Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD), as well as various other cross-cutting initiatives and pilot programs such as medical products, anti-counterfeiting efforts, nanotechnology, and harmonizing global standards. In partnering with these global organizations and regulators, the Harmonization and Multilateral Relations Office’s goal is to promote public health worldwide.
