CBER Hiring & Employment Information
The Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) is seeking outstanding candidates to work in the Center. CBER plays an integral role in the Department of Health and Human Services. In conjunction with regulatory and research responsibilities, the Center statistically evaluates clinical and pre-clinical studies of human biological products and vaccines and epidemiologically evaluates post-marketing studies and adverse biological reactions. CBER staff conducts biomedical research to provide a strong scientific base for the regulation of blood and blood-related products, vaccines, allergenic products, and gene therapies according to statutory authorities in order to protect and enhance the public health.
Qualifications:
*Grade levels range from GS-11 thru GS-15 (see salary info below)
Physicians: Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited institution and additional research experience. Graduates of foreign medical schools must submit a copy of their ECFMG certificates.
Scientists: (Other than M.D.) An advanced degree is preferred but not required in one or more of the following disciplines: Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Toxicology, Pharmacology, or Mathematical Statistician.
Consumer Safety Officers: 30 semester hours in one or a combination of the following: biological sciences, chemistry, pharmacy, physical sciences, food technology, nutrition, medical science, engineering, epidemiology, veterinary medical science or related scientific fields that provide knowledge directed related to Consumer Safety Officer work.
Citizenship:
Candidates for Civil Service or Commissioned Corps appointments must be US Citizens.
Permanent US residents may apply for Staff Fellowship appointments in physician and scientific positions.
